How We Help

With over 20 years’ experience in Forensic accounting, we examine financial records of individuals or businesses with the objective of providing financial evidence that could be used in resolving or settling disputes or litigation.  We are often tasked with conducting financial investigations to uncover truths including fraud. By its very nature, fraud is commonly hidden in the accounting systems of organisations, where we can unravel the transaction history and reveal what has actually occurred.

Fraud

We are often called upon to identify the fraud, quantify the loss, and identify the funds and assets of the perpetrator. We will work with a legal team to freeze and recover the funds and/or assets.

Separation

We work or accurately reflect the assets and liabilities (relationship property) of a separating couple to ensure both parties accurately state their status their status.

Reconstructing Lost Records

Tracing and recording assets and transactions can be difficult if record keeping is lost, poor, or purposely hidden. We can assist with the reconstruction of financial records.

Money Laundering

Forensic accounting techniques can assist investigators identifying the origins, flows and whereabouts of illicit income and unmask the networks involved.

Sandra James was employed as a Forensic Accountant when I was appointed to the Officer in Charge of the Asset Recovery Unit: New Zealand Police.

Sandra completed 16 years and seven months of faithful service to the Police. She was awarded a medal in recognition of long service and good conduct after 14 of those years.

This is an award that is not given lightly and from my experience was well deserved for the exemplary service that Sandra had provided during her time with the police.

Sandra’s work was based around the reconstruction and financial analysis of accounts used by people in the area of organised crime and money laundering. Such was the complexity of the cases assigned to Sandra, this was an area where I valued and appreciated her skill and knowledge. The information was used to support the preparation and filing of documents in the High Court.

…Sandra had meticulous record and file management, accuracy in her work and her overall ability to understand and supply expert opinion based on her interpretation of what she was seeing.
